Just want to say thankyou to John for setting up my Yamaha MT09sp suspension.

After trying different settings both online and in the owners manual It never felt right.

I've got about 400miles with the new settings and it feels awesome.

What a difference! More stable, more positive into the corners and way better slow speed corning. Thanks for your service. Kind regards, Colin

John set up my Tiger 900 GT a few weeks ago and it has truly transformed the bike. It rides so much smoother over the bumps, it turns in so much sharper and no longer runs wide in the bends, it's made the bike so much better and gives you so much confidence.. Many thanks..

Gen 1 Suzuki SV650:- After having many problems trying to set my bike up for track I decided to take my bike to John, John quickly diagnosed the problem with my forks and rather than bodge a setting and charge the appointment he was completely honest that he wouldn’t be happy to try set the bike up and let me leave the appointment free of charge, then offered to rebuild my forks and fix the problem for much cheaper than any other garage or suspension specialist, John did a good job on the rebuild and now my bikes handling is phenomenal with the tuning he has done on the forks and shock, I will definitely be returning here for all my suspension needs in the future, thanks once again and I’m sure I’ll see you next year with another bike.

Triumph Street Triple RS - I didn't expect that much difference. I was smiling all the way home. Overall much nicer to ride, handling, comfort. But what surprised me the most is how much quicker the bike is turning now! With the same input on the bar it turns much quicker. I thought it was great handling bike, but now it's incredibly great handling bike. Thank you very much for the setting. I'm more than happy Regards, Prem

2021 Triumph Street Triple RS - Visited John today to get my new bike set up. This is the 3rd bike I've had set up by John and as before he as totally transformed the bike. The ride was a tad on the hard side and a bit jittery on bumpy roads .Not anymore, rides , brakes ,corners superbly. Totally balanced .if you've not had your bike set up for you, go see john you won't believe how your bike can be transformed. Most important mod to your bike. Thanks again John..

I just wanted to say what a great job you have done with my bike John. It’s a brand new 2021 Suzuki GSXs 1000 and although the bike was great straight out of the box, the adjustments you have made have taken it to another level! Everything is calmer, it turns quicker and feels even more stable under braking. A very professional approach to the set up and extremely open about what is done and why. The best £40 anyone can spend on their bike. Thanks John.

Yamaha Thundercat. Had the bike 22 years so pretty much know my way around it, but after fitting an R6 shock I was never totally happy with the settings and both ends felt a little disconnected. Minimal changes to the damping at the front and a little more on the rear confirmed that it wasn’t a million miles away but wet weather since meant I couldn’t gauge how things had improved. Until last night! Track evening at Cadwell and I’ve got to say John, I’m delighted! Really planted, does stand on its nose slightly more as you suggested it might but nothing that affects turn-in etc. One very happy bunny here!

Kawasaki Z1000SX - Just had an hour on bike after leaving you and what a huge difference. Can't believe how quickly it tips into bends now. The ride feels firm but comfortable. It's not throwing me about at all and feels really planted. The biggest difference is how much feel I'm getting now. Can't wait to go for a longer ride on it. Thank you so much, you have transformed my bike, couldn't be happier.  Kind regards Paul

Had my MT suspension set up for me yesterday by John at Alpha suspension in Leeds. Tonight I’ve been throwing it around the twisties in the Yorkshire dales. Without doubt that’s the best £40 I’ve ever spent on a bike, can’t recommend him enough, it’s now a very fast bike that goes where I’m looking, instead of where it wants to go, night and day difference.

I’ll be recommending you to everyone I know, top man.

Hi John,  well you’ve certainly worked your magic on my KTM Super Duke, an amazing difference is an understatement after you performed your magic. I went for a little spin up over saddle moor, marsden moor and through Holmfirth towards denby dale the bike tracked perfect no more freightening cornering heading towards the kerb instead of the road, the bike sits squat and doesn’t bounce up and down really pleased can’t thank you enough.

I visited John at Alpha Suspension the week prior to going on a trackday at Donnington Park on 29/07/19. My bike is a Triumph Daytona 675. The previous owner had the front forks reworked, with Ohlines spring and re-shimmed. I had rear shock worked with a weighted spring and new valve. This meant I could not even use the owner manual to set suspension to a factory spec settings, such is my confidence in the suspension set up area of the bike I would have had to use the manual. The bike was harsh and skittish and would have a tendency not to hold lines when pushing on, also be nervous under heavy braking. It was only the fact the 675 is such a good handling bike that ment the poor set up did not give me even bigger issues. John's magic touch has transformed my 675 with its modified suspension into the weapon it should be. I wanted a fast Road set up with a little advice on where to go for the odd track outing. I have covered 100's of fast road miles now, down roads I know extremely well. I now feel like I'm travelling down them on a different bike! I'm no longer fighting and wrestling the bike through the twisties. She is so compliant and effortlessly turns in, hold her lines and when powering out of corners hooks up like a dream. It has by far been the best money I have ever spent on my bike. I am far less fatigued than I used to be after enthusiastic long runs and dare I say it I'm a little quicker now too but safer. Many thanks John your a magician!

I came with an gsxr 750 k1 l. It always felt horrible but I loved the engine. Its now my track bike. Having done a session at cadwell I knew something wasn't right. I can now say my bike handles well. It's like I have a new machine I'm sure i lost 10 seconds a lap. I would seriously do this with road or track bikes. Best money you can spend on your pride and joy. Thanks again!

First off,im very choosy who i let near my bikes with spanners PERIOD. They have to be highly recommended and researched thoroughly. john filled both criteria. now back to the bike. Honda CBR1000RR- owned for a while and not ever felt safe in the corners, kind of drifty on the way out and bouncy on the way in if that makes sense? kind of like a bag of shite, nearly had me a few times to be fair. now im no Marc Márquez but i know when something dont feel right. anyway Johns name kept cropping up so i gave him a ring,he fitted me in and he did what he does......bike felt 100% better on the first corner out of his street. just come back in now after a quick blast round selby two words......DIFFERENT BIKE......thanks John. i will be passing your details on and i would highly recommend you. ps/ my brother may ring you......remember what we discussed lol.........cheque in the post :)

After owning my bike for 2 years now, I'm kicking myself that i haven't had the suspension set up sooner. The difference is like night and day, could tell a feel a difference before id got to the end of the road. So took it straight to my favorite roads and was smiling though every corner. Like getting a new bike for £30 would highly recommend johns services to any rider. I'm sure my mates are going to get fed up with me talking about getting it done.

John's expertise and skills are beyond doubt. He's got that enviable blend of knowledge, experience and ability which means he has a feel for his trade which translates into you getting a much better feeling on the bikes. John worked across a range of our bikes - from Ducati Monsters to Enfield Classic 500s and each one, as result of his careful input, is now better suited to my riding - in terms of style and substance. Most noticeable was the Monster, which had at times felt vague and a little skitters, now it's planted and the feedback from what I had assumed was the "wrong" tyre is immense - so a huge thank you to John and if I'm every fortunate enough to get my hands on another bike I'll be on the phone seeking his support!

I took my Kawasaki Z1000sx to John on 29//09/18. I have zero knowledge of suspension set up and have always ridden with stock set up or tweaked a screw or two without actually knowing the affect on handling so I was more than happy that I could afford (£30) for someone with experience to custom set it up just for me. John booked a convenient time and day for me to visit and first asked me some questions about my riding style, current handling quirks and then set about measuring, testing and tweaking until he was satisfied it was perfect for me. The difference was nothing short of amazing: turned in quicker, held a sure line without twitching (even over uneven road surface around fast corners), soaked up the bumps comfortably and returned to feeling planted immediately, braked sharper and accelerated smoother, all in all honestly the best money ever spent on my bike. I will recommend John to every biker I meet as I think people just don't realise what a difference suspension set up makes - it's now an absolute confidence inspiring joy to ride

My zx6r has been unnerving in the corners, had a floaty bouncy feeling. I wasn't expecting a huge improvement due to it being an old bike, but on my ride home it corners on rails. Amazing work!

I took my Yamaha FJR 1300 to John as I wasn’t happy with the way the bike cornered. After half an hour, John had worked his magic and my first ride on the bike was a revelation, as the ride, feel and cornering ability of the bike has been transformed. I cannot believe what a difference John has made and I cannot recommend his services highly enough.

I took my 2015 Suzuki gsr 750 to John as I had bought a nitron shock. The shock was immediately better than the stock one straight out of the box but after John had aligned the chain and set the sag on the new unit I had a spirited ride home. The suspension is 100% now. Absorbing bumps and giving me more confidence. Thanks John.

I figured my stock suspension on my 1999 Yamaha R6 was a lost cause because it was so old so I left everything stock besides a pair of Race Tech springs in the front. Decided to try the online suspension setup and I am extremely happy with the results. Just by making the compression and rebound changes John suggested the tires now follow the road which is a huge boost in confidence! He also helped me by suggesting I check my spring install drilling down to the air gap. That's when I knew he really takes time to see what is going on with your bike and not a canned response. Thank you very much John. Cheers!

I have a 2002 suzuki gsxr 600. Before John set up the bike, it was very reluctant to go into a corner and I was having to fight with the bike to get it to lean over. Since having the bike set up, it is now the one begging to corner. It handles so much sharper and turns in so much easier after the setup. Recommend 100%, the guy knows what hes doing!!! Thanks again John!

Ray Thomas z1000sx 2015 said on Jul 19, 2017 11:45 AM

The bike wasn't too bad before John worked on it but I felt that it was too soft altogether and a little vague. Rather than mess about adjusting things without any real experience of such matters it made sense to take the bike to an expert and let him make the most of it. What a change John made to it. Firmer when needed, not harsh in any way, largest difference was the front end, not diving. Turns in so much faster, and it wasn't too bad before so I was surprised at the improvement. Holds the line perfectly now. Low speed manouvering also so much easier. Lots of good advice too. I would heartily recommend John's services.

I highly recommend anyone who owns a bike to visit John. The transformation to my Daytona 675 is amazing. The bike felt numb and left me no confidence. On my first visit John noticed that the rebound damping was uneven in the number of clicks available and thought the forks, which had just had new seals and oil put in, had the wrong fork oil in. John set the bike as best he could but said it could be much better. I took the bike back to where I bought it from had the work done that John suggested and returned for a second attempt. I went back to see John who setup the bike again for free!! Now it is amazing handles so well gives me so much confidence in what is going on and is more comfortable. Many thanks John the best £30 you could ever spend on a bike!

Hi John. Just want to say what a revelation my bike is since you set up the suspension. I thought the standard setting was ok but found the front end chattered through the bends and the rear being very hard. the major concern was how much the front end dived under hard braking. Within 10 minutes of the set up I found out just how bad the previous settings were. the first time I braked the bike the front end stayed pretty much upright. What was the enlightening moment was throwing the bike into bends. talk about been planted to the road. I can now accelerate through bends and am more confident in the bikes overall handling. Thank you for giving me a stunning set up

Suzuki GSXR1000 K6 I had been feeling less and less confident riding my K6 just lately, and also finding premature wear on the front tyre. It all cam to a head when one of the fork seals started weaping, I also need to add another Bike shop set up my suspension, I brought it to John as I was well advised from a Friend, Also i had been advised to get the forks REvalved as K6 suffer little Rebound. John suggested a Service, new seals and Shimming rather than valves. On checking the forks, John found that they had been very badly set up previously, more than likely causing the tyre wear, thus giving me the lack of confidence. John turned the job around for me in a couple of days as he knew I had a track day booked. So forks back in, return to Johns for a Set up. Boy what a difference, The bike was superb, well planted on track, I felt so much better on it. It was smooth over the bumps solid on the corners. never shifted. Extremely happy with it. 100% better..

Just had my Honda SP2 in for a ride in ride out service on the standard suspension at http://www.alphasuspensionset-up.co.uk/Contact-Me---T-C-s.html What a difference! Felt the changes immediately. I can highly recommend John to anyone who wants their suspension set up for the correct sag etc. For £30 he does the ride in ride out service and for another fiver send you the settings via email as a base line to tweak from. For me he transformed a non compliant stiff bike into a quick turning flickable bike with loads of feel from the front end, and it's more comfortable too!

I took my 2016 Street Triple R to John because straight from the factory the bike was set up to be firm, this made the ride harsh and scatty and didn't inspire confidence in the bike. John adjusted everything, and on my ride home it felt like a different bike. It felt plush over bumps, but not soft. The bike now goes where I want it to, is easier to manoeuvre at slow speeds and feels much more stable. An added benefit I wasn't expecting is to the braking. There's is so much more feel. All in all I would recommend John to anyone! Thanks!

Reading the comments John has had, it was a no brainer to see if he could work his magic..well you did John !! It felt better before I got to the roadworks and the trip to Whitby was so much better than the last time..the bike now feels like I think it should have done when it left the factory..top job and definitely the best 30 quid I've ever spent on a bike..Well done..

Hi John, I just wanted to say thanks very much for sorting my suspension out on my Ducati 899 Panigale. I brought the bike second hand and immediately felt the suspension was rock hard and just felt very stiff, especially on the front end. I also felt very perched up on the bike rather than "in it". After visiting you the difference was amazing, the bike just felt like it should, easier to hit Apexs and I felt part of the bike. And the ride was so much more smoother and real world! This difference was felt straight away when I left your house, the front end just felt much lighter and the whole bike easier! I'm not a very technical person so sorry if this is not a good description. But it's the best money spent and thanks very much! Cheers Bill.

Took a ride up to Johns home from Nottingham to get suspension set up on my GSXR 1000 K3. Recently purchased bike which felt unbalanced and unpredictable. John thoroughly made notes of all base settings etc then proceeded to tune my suspension to what is now beautifully balanced and predictable/forgiving. This is an art and takes years to perfect hence why i chose to go with a pro such as John.

Once again I called John to book in for a suspension set up. This is the 4th bike he's done for me, and after a quick thrash to his garage after work tonight he got straight to work on my R1. After a quick chat about what I'm not happy with John got to work sorting out the nervous front and the bouncy rear. The ride home(even on the motorway!) filled me with the confidence I had on my old R1. The best modification you can do for such little money!!! I can't recommend John enough. Thanks John. Hi John, Just wanted to say thanks for sorting out the suspension on the speed triple. After leaving yours I had a run to squires and the bike was transformed. It did everything you said it would, holding a line through the corners, more comfortable and therefore more confidence inspiring plus it didn't try to kick me off at every bump in the road ! This is the second bike you have sorted for me and it certainly won't be the last. Best £30 anyone can spend on their bike. Once again thanks.

with over 45 years of riding a number of bikes under my belt I've always done my own servicing and most repairs, including setting up my suspension.Despite reading various how-to articles I never really managed to get it right even though I'd convince myself I had.I recently added a Moto Guzzi Griso to my collection, this time I decided to let an experienced expert do the setting up.John at Alpha Suspension spent 45 mins on the bike, the result is now a bike that is perfectly damped. This is especially so when you're already committed into a corner and hit a bump / pot hole, the bike doesn't go out of shape, stays in control and on line. The confidence you get from this is priceless. Thanks again John, I'll be bringing my Buell S1 Whitelightning for you to sort out!

Ducati 848 Streetfighter: Really made a difference to the bike in the corners. Feels more planted and the feeling of being bounced of the road has completely gone. A lot more confidence in the tighter corners. Cheers John

Hi John,I'd just like to thank you for working your magic on my 2014 Triumph Speed Triple R.After recently purchasing my dream bike it was on my too do list to have the suspension properly sorted, after an Internet search I came across John and made contact.Due to both our commitments, finding a time could of been difficult if it wasn't for John giving up his time on a Sunday for me.I arrived on my bike and left on a completely different one! After assessing the settings of my bike John told me how it rode, did he have a crystal ball?!He then set to work doing what he does and explaining along the way. After shaking hands off I rode,I hadn't got to the main road and the bike felt completely different.Living up in North Yorkshire I had a decent run home and then plenty of lovely roads to ride. The transformation is unreal, the bike now tips into corners so smoothly now and feels planted all the way thru them,it doesn't try to buck you out the seat and skitter over bumpy roads either. Its now a smooth, confident and comfortable bike to ride.As other people have said its the best money you'll ever spend on your bike!I cant thank you enough John, many thanks.Go see this man,he's a legend!

Morning John, Just a quick message to say that firstly thank you on the set up, and secondly it goes great now! On my route back i decided to detour via the ''Yorkshire TT'' route to really see how it would handle the bumps and undulations, it does it great, it doesn't feel like the front wants to lift after every little bump when accelerating, and that back being softer doesn't feel like it wants to skip/jump out anymore, which in turn now gives me loads more confidence in my riding and in my entry speed into and through the corner. Thanks again and i will be back when i change this bike! Rob

Hi John, would just like to thank you again for setting up the suspension on my GSXR 750 L4. Always thought my bikes suspension was a bit harsh especially the rear but overall didnt think it was that bad until you worked your magic on it. Now it's 100% better. Overall handling and especially cornering massively improved giving great confidence.Couldnt believe the difference , best 30 quid I've ever spent. So everyone out there who think their bikes are good, go see John and part with 30 quid and end up with a great!! bike. Thanks again John.

Hi John just like to say thanks. I was going to sell my fireblade as I just couldn't live with the way it didn't take the bumps and the way I had to force it round the corners. After you set the bike up propperly for me it was like a totally new bike it felt light and so easy to get round the corners. It also rides the bumps so much better. Think I will be keeping the blade a bit longer. Thanks again.

I was out all day did over 250 miles & loved every minute of the ride, taking the corners now with a lot more confidence. Thanks again great job done

John, I would just like to thank you for seeing me yesterday at teh last minute and setting my Aprilia up. When I got there John said my bike was nearly unrideable and the bike was not set up well at all. After 45 mins of fine tuning and explaining what he had done I left on a bike that can only be described as a 'NEW' bike. Unbelievable! If you think your bike rides well! Think again and book an appointment. The best £30 ever spent. So glad I went over. I will be spreading the word. Thanks once again

Just a short note to thank you for such a good job at setting up the suspension on my k7 GSXR 750. I knew the suspension wasn't right for me from the first ride out on the bike and I was pleased to see that you had a clinic a lot closer to me than you your home is! As everyone else has said, the difference in the bike was noticed immediately! Thank you for unlocking the bike I always knew was there! Carl.

Rob Shuttleworth said on Aug 7, 2015 2:05 AM

John, it's been a few weeks, but just wanted to drop you a line to say thanks for sorting the Fireblade. It's transformed from a jittery constant thought what the front wheel was doing to a smooth ride where you don't even think about the road surface. I don't even think about the bike now, it just gets on with what I ask of it with no fuss, wouldn't hesitate to do it again. Many thanks you have turned it into a keeper.

Thanks again John great job.

A HUGE THANK YOU John. From devastatingly disappointing ride home on a new bike to the transformation that I ride now. Simply amazing. Could feel the improvement as I slowly left in the rain. Perversely pleased that the dealer didn't have a clue with the settings as it was the catalyst to bring the bike over within 24hrs of ownership. Singing your praise to everyone. Thank you again John. John I would just like to thank you for the advice and time you have given before bringing my Hayabusa to you. As we discussed she was a very firm ride and as for handling she constantly run wide if taking twisties as speed, also islands were sometimes a struggle. However now you have adjusted the suspension settings to the front and rear of her, it has totally transformed the ride, handling and sensitivity of the steering. She feels like I am now in total control and where I want her to go she will. Islands are such a breeze now and twisties she seems to take effortlessly. Anyone struggling with their handling this is well worth doing. Thanks again John! 27.01.2015

Hi John, Just to say thanks for the setup, and wow what a difference it has made. I have never had this done before on any bike, and the results have convinced me that it won't be the last time. Even at the first corner after I left, I immediately noticed the improvement, the bike seems to want to just go around the corners on its own, the extra confidence, with not only higher speed bends, both in and out, but also the stability felt at low speed (mini roundabouts etc) is fantastic. Thanks again, you have just given me a whole new bike, and it's much better than I could have hoped for. Colin

ZZR1400 2013 Honesty cannot believe the difference. Before I came to see John I had no trust in the handling of the bike.bumps whilst cornering would really upset the it,brake and the front would dive way to much . accelerate and the back would squat down.it was terrible. But now it's a different bike.what it should have always been.loads of confidence it it now . highly recommend. I reckon a couple of my mates will be coming to see you . Cheers john.

Richard Platts - Ducati Diavel said on Jul 31, 2014 5:36 PM

Hi John. what a difference your settings have made to the ride of the bike! The teeth-rattling jarring over the slightest bump has now gone and the handling in corners which I thought was fine with the original settings has improved beyond what I thought was possible. You mentioned that you felt that you could get some further improvement out of the front with some other fairly minor mods and having seen such an improvement with the adjustments carried out I have no doubt that you could improve things even more, so I will be getting in touch again when I have put a few more miles on. Finally, to anyone with a Diavel, I would highly recommend that you get John to adjust your standard suspension and try it before you go down the costly route of fitting ohlins - you will be amazed at the difference! Thanks again. Richard

After fitting some uprated forks and an ohlins shock I was initially disappointed with the ride and I'm not confident in setting it up properly. Like other comments this is really £30 very well spent, took my Yamaha FZ1 to John and his changes have made the bike feel so much better in terms of feeling planted in the bends and much more predictable, I had the work done before heading off to Isle of Man to watch this year's TT and had chance to ride over the mountain course a couple of times, much more enjoyable when you know the bike's suspension is sorted.

Andy Barton said on May 3, 2014 3:04 AM

Thanks for adjustments to my Suzuki GSX1300 B-King. Was seriously thinking of some very expensive upgrades before you set the stock suspension to optimise it for a little lad. I now have more confidence to tip into corners and commit to a line. £30 on the strength of nothing to lose and everything to gain was a no brainer. I would recommend you to anyone, on any bike, and be sure that you would optimise theirs as well as you have mine. Value for money and friendly professional service sums it up I think. Thanks again John.

Recently had my K4 GSXR 1000 set up by John. Through very little explination from my self on how it handled, he managed to turn my machine into an eager and nimble hare, compared to its slugush behaviour before he worked his magic. As i didnt even realise my bike had so much more potential within it, i urge even the riders who are happy with the way their bikes ride to go and see just what John can do.

She's like a different bike after the visit to alpha, no more bouncing out of the seat on the bumpy roads anymore, feels a lot more secure and planted on the road, plus the front seems to have loads more grip and stability when cornering, thanks a lot.

Liam Fryer said on Aug 25, 2013 2:27 AM

Cannot recommend enough. John had a bounce on my bike and then told me exactly how my bike felt to ride!! i knew then that my bike was in safe hands Before i took my bike to John the ride was really stiff and would skip about on most surfaces which made the bike really uncontrollable and unstable which was affecting my confidence. After John had made his swift adjustments the ride home gave me so much satisfaction. The bike now feels taut when pressing on but is much more supple over lumps and bumps. i am really impressed with how stable the bike feels now. I have gained a lot of feel in the front end, especially under braking. i know everybody says this but it is the best £30 you can spend on a bike!!! massive thanks

Josh said on Aug 20, 2013 0:43 AM

Hi John just like to say a big thanks to start with. I can definitely feel a difference in the bike since you worked your magic, though I think you are right about the rear spring it will need changing at some point. Loads more confidence though and the bike actually absorbs the bumps now thanks again.

Jim, 2011 Triumph Speed Triple. Thanks for the new bike John. I found the suspension harsh (especially the front) on standard settings and never felt particularly confident on bumpy corners on the Dales roads that I usually ride. John's adjustments have transformed the bike for less than the price of a night out. As an added bonus it is a great deal more comfortable! Money well spent. Thanks again, Jim.

hi john, thanks for sorting my suspension out, i came in initially as my new bike had had the suspension on the rear messed about with and it feel awful, the front had no feel one way or the other but i put it down to the rear being out. but after a few questions it appears the front was actually making the rear worse. once you had altered it the rear felt much better but amazingly the biggest change was up front, i can feel everything thats going on. its great i cant wait for the weather to brighten up. highly recommended service its made a huge difference to the way the bike feels ;-) many thanks mick
